Engineers were tunnelling out new water mains - but pranksters had taken away the ‘no parking’ signs
A driver who nipped to the shops came back two minutes later... only to find her car had disappeared.
But on closer inspection, the Skoda Fabia hadn't been nabbed by car thieves - the road had collapsed underneath it.
Engineers were tunnelling out new water mains and had left out ‘no parking’ signs on the street.
But pranksters removed the signs before Lenka Nowotna parked up her hatchback before dashing into the supermarket.
When the 28-year-old arrived back minutes later it seemed to have gone because it had sunk into a five-foot deep hole after the road surface caved in.
Fortunately, she didn't have to try to drive her car out - firefighters came out and pulled it out of the pit.
Shocked Lenka, from Prague in the Czech Republic, said: “One minute it was there, the next it had gone.
"I only came out to get some crisps for my son's birthday party.”
